Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�� SUBJECT: Purchase track segments and rollers for clarifier/basin at South Water Treatment Plant. SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Infilco Degremont Inc. to furnish roller track segments and supports, horizontal rollers, vertical rollers, and assembly rollers. BACKGROUND: This is a sole source purchase since the tracks and rollers are part of the clarifier/basin that was originally installed when the South Water Treatment Plant was put on line in 1988. The track and rollers are almost thirteen years old and are worn out. The raw water comes into the clarifier/basin and treatment chemicals are added. The rollers literally spin around on the track and scrape the clarifier/basin 24 hours a day so the solids settle out. The clear water at the top is skimmed off and then flows into the filters. There are four clarifier/basins total and eventually the other three will have to have the tracks and rollers replaced also. The Water Production Maintenance Supervisor anticipates the other tracks and rollers will be replaced over the next three years as capital projects. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Track and roller replacement requested by Water Management and they recommend approval of bid. BUDGET: $58,842.19 for one lot of roller track segments and supports $ 6,455.68 for 16 horizontal rollers $ 5,260.00 for 16 vertical rollers $10,821.76 for 8 assembly rollers $80,839.63 total from Water Capital Fund.
