Newell, P.E., City Engineer`�� <br /> SUBJECT: Security Gate at the Municipal Services Center, City Project 2000-48 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for the Security Gate at the Municipal Services Center, City Project 2000-48, to Decatur <br /> Fence Company, as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of $16,848.00, and that the <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This project consists of removing the existing gate and installing an automatic gate that will <br /> operate by punch code. This system is designed to increase security at the Municipal Services <br /> Center by limiting the free access that is currently provided to the operations yard. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Municipal Services Manager and the <br /> City Engineer. The project was advertised December 6, 2000, and bids were opened on January <br /> 3, 2001.
