R2001-07 <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br /> DECATUR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL <br /> - OPEN HEART PROGRAM- <br /> WHEREAS, the time required to receive and treat a heart patient is intimately correlated <br /> with survival rates; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the 163,000 people living within thirty minutes of Decatur should be <br /> entitled to service in Decatur as a means of enhancing survival rates; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Decatur Memorial Hospital proposes to apply to the Illinois Department of <br /> Public Health for permission to perform open heart surgery; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Decatur Memorial Hospital represents that its proposal would create <br /> between 35 to 50 new jobs and retain over $50 million of local revenue currently leaving our <br /> area; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur recognizes and needs the economic benefits generated <br /> by Decatur Memorial Hospital's application. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. T'hat the City of Decatur wishes to express its full support for the location of <br /> an Open Heart Program at Decatur Memorial Hospital, and be it further resolved that the City <br /> Clerk is authorized and directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Decatur Memorial <br /> Hospital and the State of Illinois Deparirnent of Public Health. <br /> PRESENTED and ADOPTED this 22nd day of January, 2001. <br /> / / <br /> � / <br /> TE M.
