CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
NO. 2016-03
TO: Mayor Moore Wolfe
City Council
FROM: Tim Gleason, City Manager
DATE: January 19, 2016
SUBJECT: Consulting Services Agreement for Transportation Improvement
On the Agenda for the January 19, 2016 Council meeting is a Resolution seeking
adoption of a Consulting Services Agreement with Ann L. Schneider LLC to provide services
related to the City's transportation goals.
The Agreement will specifically require the consultant to advise the City on effectively
accomplishing the transportation improvement goals of the City as well as Macon County on
various projects including the Southeast Beltway, seek federal and state funding opportunities for
the various projects and coordinate and package those opportunities and requests, coordinate and
intervene as needed for the various projects and tasks, assist in developing and advising a
Decatur Macon County Freight Advisory Council, advise the City on resolving transportation
issue and assist in building consensus with involved and affected parties on our transportation
goals.
The Agreement is a one (1) year Agreement with an additional year automatic renewal
period with an annual cost of Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) per year. It also provides for
payment of extraordinary costs and expenses if the City approves. Macon County is considering,
or as of the date of our Council meeting may have already considered, the payment of one-half of
these costs. A Resolution approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with Macon County is
also on the Agenda for the Council meeting on January 19, 2016.
I believe that this Agreement will provide great service in moving our transportation
related goals ahead and recommend approval.
