Miller AICP, Seniar Planner���„1 <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of Surrounded Area: Vero Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: In keeping with City policy to annex surrounded areas and <br /> thereby create a more logical and consistent corporate boundary, staff recommends approval of the <br /> annexations as presented. <br /> BACKGROiJND: Final action to annex parcels of land which are surrounded by the corporate limits is <br /> scheduled for Monday, June 21, 2004. The appropriate ordinance to annex these parcels was received <br /> and placed on file by the City Council on Monday, June 7. The property owner was notified of the <br /> proposed annexation action. The total area of the parcels for annexation is 2.8 acres. The surrounding <br /> area is zoned R-1 Single Family Residence District and B-2 Commercial District to the east; R-1 Single <br /> Family Residence District to the west and north; and R-1 Single Family Residence District and O-1 <br /> Of�ce District to the south. When annexed, the area will come into the city as R-1 Single Family <br /> Residence District. The following information is relative to the areas in question: <br /> 1. The parcels are vacant. <br /> 2. City water is located adjacent to Vero Street and Fairway Avenue. <br /> 3. Sanitary sewer is located at Fairway Avenue. <br /> 4. The average fire response time is 6.8 minutes. Harristown is the Fire Protection <br /> District. <br /> 5. Vero Street is asphalt construction and will be maintained by the City of Decatur. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Not known. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at 424-2786, <br /> kj miller(�a,decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately$485.88 would become <br /> available from the combined total real estate ($258.77), motor fuel ($125.38) and state income taxes <br /> ($101.73) from the properties. <br />
