Van teenhuyse, Long Range Planning Manag� <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance: Length of Season for Temporary <br /> Restaurant Facilities (Food Carts) <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: As requested by the City Council, staff has prepared an <br /> amendment to Section II of the Zoning Ordinance that extends the season for semi-permanent <br /> and mobile food concession facilities (defined in the Ordinance as "Restaurants: temporary <br /> facilities"). Currently, such facilities are allowed to receive a permit which allows them to <br /> operate between April 1 and November 15. The proposed amendment extends this season by <br /> two weeks at the beginning and two weeks at the end of the season, so that operation will be <br /> pertnitted between March 15 and November 30. <br /> BACKGROUND: Prior to adoption of the updated Zoning Ordinance in 2001, these businesses <br /> were regulated as temporary buildings. Recently, several operatars of food cart concessions ' <br /> have requested an extension of the operating season that was adopted in May, 2001. At the , <br /> Council study session on January 20, the Council directed staff to submit an amendment for <br /> consideration by the Plan Commission and City Council. � <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: Staff is not aware of any objection to this amendment.
