Newell, P.E., City Engineer�{ <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing 35 mph Speed Limit on South Shores Drive from <br /> Allen Bend Drive to the East City Limits <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> 1 <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing a 35 mph speed limit on <br /> the subject portion of South Shores Drive. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> At the February 11, 2004, meeting of the Traffic and Parking Commission, the Commission <br /> approved a request from area residents to reduce the speed limit on South Shores Drive between <br /> Allen Bend Drive and the east City limits from 40 mph to 35 mph. <br /> This change was in response to concerns from area residents regarding speeding on South Shores <br /> Drive. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: No objections are anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br />
