Ho d, Human Relations Specialist <br /> SUBJECT: City Code Chapter 28 Amendment <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Stai� recommends that City Council approve the <br /> attached ordinance, modifying the section of Chapter 28 of the City Code that deals with <br /> discrimination complaint processing by the Human Relations Specialist, in circumstances of <br /> conflict of interest <br /> BACKGROUND: The City's previous Human Relations Specialist encountered a conflict of <br /> interest when attempting to process certain discrimination complaints filed against her former <br /> employer. As a result, the Human Relations Commission reviewed the situation, and approved <br /> the attached language amending Chapter 28. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The Illinois Department of Human Rights, as well as the <br /> City of Champaign Human Relations Office, were consulted about handling similar circumstances. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Additional questions may be forwarded to Jason Hood, Human <br /> Relations Specialis� at 424-2805, or e-mail at jmhood@decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: There are no direct budget implications foreseen by the <br /> implementation of this change. <br />
