ECONOMIC AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM <br /> No. 04-01 <br /> January 6,2004 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Paul Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Ga ity Manager <br /> Dane C. ag AICP,Director of Economic and Urban Development� <br /> Kathy J.Mil r,AICP, Senior Planner K�Yr�. <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of the premises commonly known as 2248 Captain Lane <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would <br /> produce a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition as <br /> presented. <br /> BACKGROLTND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the <br /> City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 0.583 acres, the property is developed with a single <br /> family residence. Annexation is requested for connection to City water. The property to the south is <br /> zoned R-1 Single Family Residence District; properiy to the north, east and west is in the County; when <br /> annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 Single Family Residence District. The following <br /> information is relevant to the area in question: ��I <br /> 1. The parcel contains a single family residence. I�, <br /> 2. City water is located adjacent to the tract at Captain Lane. I <br /> 3. Sanitary sewer is not available. I <br /> 4. 'The average fire response time is seven and one-half(7.5)minutes. Harristown is the ', <br /> Fire Protection District. <br /> 5. Captain Lane is seal treated and maintained by the City of Decatur. � <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at 424-2786, <br /> kjmiller(a�decaturnet.or�. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately$401.44 would become <br /> available from the combined total real estate ($174.33) motor fuel ($125.38) and state income taxes <br /> ($101.73) from the property. <br />
