•  ;
EXCERPTS OF THE
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION
Wednesday, June 11, 2002
Engineering Conference Room
Second Floor, Civic Center
ITEM #2 Staff request for a Winter No Parking Zone on Medial Drive '
Mr. Newell stated that he had received a memo from Phil Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manager
who is in charge of snow removal for the City. The memo states that snow plow accidents have j
occurred on Medial Drive. Mr. Wilhelm has requested that Medial Drive be included in the '
Winter No Parking Zone. This is traditionally done on streets that are too narrow for snow plow
trucks to safely traverse. Medial Drive has a center median and with cars parked along the ,
curb, it makes it extremely difficult to get a snow plow down the street. Notice of this meeting 'i
was sent to all the residents on Medial Drive and Mr. Newell received one (1) telephone call and ',
one (1) email. Residents were concerned that they would be notified when the parking
restriction was put in place and they were assured that an announcement would be made in the
media. Motion to accept staff recommendation made by Battalion Chief Gillen and seconded
by April Veteto.
1
