, . � . <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2003-33 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF DECATUR ENTERPRISE ZONE <br /> -TERMINATION DATE— <br /> -TAX ABATEMENT - <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur filed an application for certification of an enterprise zone <br /> with the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs under the provision of the "Illinois <br /> Enterprise Zone Act" (20 ILCS 655/1 et. seq.) and was certified effective July 1, 1983; and, <br /> WHEREAS, enterprise zones provide incentives in order to promote the economic growth <br /> of the area, to reduce unemployment, and to encourage expansion, rehabilitation, and new <br /> construction of structures within the proposed zone; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur, by and through its designated Enterprise Zone <br /> Administrator, Craig Coil, now finds it necessary and desirable to further amend the terms of the <br /> Ordinance, as heretofore supplemented and amended,pursuant to Section 5.4 of the Act; and, <br /> WHEREAS, on Friday, March 14, 2003, the Administrator of the City of Decatur <br /> Enterprise Zone duly caused public notice to be published in the Decatur Herald and Review, a <br /> newspaper of general circulation within the certified Enterprise Zone, as amended, of a public <br /> hearing to be conducted within the certified Enterprise Zone, as amended, on whether the <br /> Ordinance, as supplemented and amended, should be further supplemented and amended (1) to <br /> alter the termination date of the City of Decatur Enterprise Zone so that such Enterprise Zone <br /> shall be in effect for thirty(30) calendar years from and after the initial date of its certification on <br /> July 1, 1983, and(2) to modify and amend the tax abatements ei�ective in said Zone. Such public <br /> notice was published not more that twenty(20) days nor less than five (5) days before the public I <br /> hearing scheduled and noticed for Monday, March 24, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.; and <br />
