Traffic and Parking Commission Minutes
January 8, 2003
ITEM # 2 Request from Anna Yavonne and Thomas E. Hector for a handicap parking
space in front of 1214 E. Vanderhoof
Anna Yavonne and Thomas E. Hector sent a letter to the Traffic & Parking Commission to
petition for a handicapped parking space to be permitted in front of their home at 1214 E.
Vanderhoof.
Mr. Newell commented that these citizens do not have a driveway and no parking area at their
home other than on the street.
Mr. Ballard spoke with the citizens who stated that there is an ongoing problem in their
neighborhood. There is a credit union across the street and customers park in front of their home
when going to the credit union.
Chief Gillen questioned staff if there was any documentation after a handicapped sign is
installed. Mr. Newell replied that a letter is sent out every five (5) years or so to ascertain if the
residents still reside there and to update our records.
Motion was made by Phil Bauer to authorize a handicap parking space be permitted in front of
the residence; motion was seconded by Don Wenneker. Votes: Aye - 8; Nays - 0. Motion carried.
