' Staff member Ratekin stated that even though speed limit signs are not posted in the area, it is
a written law that when signs are not posted, the speed limit is to be considered to be 30 miles
per hour. The placement of stop signs does not always handle problems like these and there
are no blanket solutions.
Lt. Anderson stated that he has three traffic officers per shift and if there are three accidents,
he has to assign those officers to handle the accidents and he has no one else available to run
radar.
Citizens thanked the Commission members for taking the time to listen to them and then left
the meeting.
Mr. Ratekin called for a vote on the installation of stop signs at the intersection of Chat and
Dove and Chat and Plover Drives. Voting yes to install the signs were Commission members
Jimmy Sober, April Veteto, Don Wenneker, Ron Ballard, Fire Battalion Chief Jim Gillen, Police
Lt. James Anderson and Joselyn Stewart. Mr. Ratekin voted no, motion carried.
