. . . _
Mr. Cochran stated that showing the commission a street closure with a cul-de-sac would not
change this situation. He stated that the hospital has addressed several safety issues with the
church. Mr. Cochran stated that the sewer cannot be built over but it could be paved over. The
hospital needs control of the roadway for safety reasons, one of which is controlled access to the
site.
Mrs. Howley asked how Decatur Memorial Hospital's control would take precedence over taJc
payer's wishes. She stated that Decatur Memorial has mde the appearance of being a good
neighbor. Mrs. Howley stated that it seems the safety of the hospital patients is more important
than the safety of St. Thomas parishioners. She stated that she is not for the selling of City
streets.
Mr. John stated that he did not have the information needed to make a recommendation on the
petition which would have a significant unpact on the neighborhood and land use.
It was moved and seconded(John/Setina) to table Cal. No. 01-47 to be considered with the
Planned Unit Development. Motion carried at a vote of six to three. Commissioners voting yea:
Anderson, Claypool, John, Peck, Setina and Washington. Commissioners voting nay: Sands,
Shampine and Schiller. Commissioners Clevenger and Smith abstained from the vote.
