Miller, AICP,Planner� � <br /> SUBJECT: Alley Vacation--East of Oakland Avenue <br /> between 900 Block West Wood Street and West Macon Street <br /> on Petition of Jim Romano <br /> SLTMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the alley vacation. The <br /> Plan Commission reviewed the request at the October 4 meeting and recommended approval <br /> with a vote of 4 to 3 and 1 abstention. Plan Commission minutes are attached. <br /> BACKGROUND: A Planned Unit Development for Commercial Development was approved by <br /> the Plan Commission and City Council in December, 2000. An amendment to the PUD is <br /> currently being reviewed for this site. The alley to the west of the current request was vacated in <br /> April, 2001 and June, 1987. The petitioner wishes to vacate the an additional portion of the alley <br /> for the amendments to the Planned Unit Development. The area at the alley location will be <br /> parking; a turn around will be provided for vehicles providing services to the residents to the east <br /> of the site. The developer owns the property on both sides of the alley. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There were no objectors to the alley vacation at the Plan <br /> Commission meeting. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Utility letters have been received: an easement for utility <br /> access and maintenance will be required. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at <br /> 424-2786 or at kjmiller@decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: An appraisal for the proposed right of way for vacation was <br /> submitted with an estimated market value of$700. <br />
