Council Memo <br /> August 1, 2001 <br /> Page Two <br /> 3. The Macon Place Historic District is one of a contiguous grouping of properties <br /> having a sense of cohesiveness expressed through a similarity of characteristics of <br /> style,period or method of construction(Section 4 (g)); several architectural styles <br /> are utilized in the neighborhood; colonial revival is the most popular style followed <br /> by the Queen Anne Style and the Prairie Style. <br /> 4. 'The Macon Place Historic District has a unique location or singular physical <br /> characteristics that make it an established or familiar visual feature (Section 4(i)); <br /> the district is located south of the central part of the City of Decatur where the <br /> original settlement occurred. Out of the eleven buildings,ten buildings are listed <br /> as contributing to the significance of the historic district. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Two residents stated that they were not opposed to the designation of a <br /> historic district but that they did not want to participate. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: A neighborhood meeting was held with the residents before the <br /> application was submitted. A public hearing was held on July 12, 2001, seeking input from the Macon <br /> Place residents and the community. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at 424-2786. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None <br />
