Miller,AICP,Planner �� <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of Surrounded Area: 2601 West Main Street(at Dipper Lane) <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: In keeping with City policy to annex surrounded areas and <br /> thereby create a more logical and consistent corporate boundary, staff recommends approval of the <br /> annexations as presented. <br /> BACKGROiJND: Final action to annex parcels of land which are surrounded by the corporate limits is <br /> scheduled (Monday, June 4, 2001). The appropriate ordinance to annex these parcels was received and <br /> placed on file by the City Council on Monday, May 21. The property owners were notified of the <br /> proposed annexation action. The total area of the parcels is 3.95 acres. The surrounding area is zoned <br /> R-1 Single Family Residence District to the west and R-3 Single Family Residence District to the north <br /> and south and B-2 Commercial District to the east; when annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 <br /> Single Family Residence District. The following information is relative to the areas in question: , <br /> 1. The parcel contains vacant lots. <br /> 2. City water is located adjacent to the tracts at West Main Street. <br /> 3. The area is currently not served by sanitary sewer. <br /> 4. The average fire response time is 8 minutes. Harristown is the Fire Protection <br /> District. �� <br /> 5. The streets are maintained by the City of Decatur and are concrete construction. �I <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Objections are not known. II, <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal I <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department �I <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at 424-2786. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Because the property is owned by the Sanitary District of Decatur, <br /> no additional revenue will be received by the City from this annexation. <br /> I <br />
