Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of May 10, 2001 I
' Cal. No. 01-25 Petition of A.J. KRIEGE Assistant Cit Mana er to rezone the
 Y g ,
premises at 1099 WEST WOOD STREET from R-6 Mulitple Dwelling
District to B-2 Commercial District.
Mr. Bragg presented the recommendation of staff:
The sub'ect ro ert contains 39 020 s uare feet 0.90 acres and is currentl vacant. The site
J P P Y , q ) Y
housed the parking facilities for the Blue Mill Restaurant until it was demolished in March, 2001.
The property is located within the Westown Square planned unit development approved by the
Plan Commission and Crty Council m December, 2001.
As a part of the P.U.D., the petitioner proposed to rezone the subject property along with other
tracts located to the east of the subject property. Upon administrative review of rezonings during
calendar year 2000, staff discovered that the parking area from the original Blue Mill site was not
included in the legal description of the rezoning ordinance and the parking Iot was zoned R-6.
The legal description was correct, however, for the ordinance establishing a P.U.D. on the entire
site.
The proposed rezoning is consistent with the goals of the Decatur Urban Area Land Use Plan and
in harmony with the proposed planned unit development on the site. Construction of the new
facility has begun and is scheduled for completion in Fall, 2001. The item was previously
presented to the Plan Commission and City Council including the subject property. The proposed
rezoning would correct an administrative oversight in the previous petition.
Based on the above analysis, staff recommends approval of the petition as submitted.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded (Jacobs/Peck) to forward Cal. No. 01-25 to City Council with
recommendation for approval. Motion carried unanimously.
