TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION I
Wednesday, April l lth, 2001 I
Engineering & Infrastructure Conference Room
Third Floor, Civic Center ,
ITEM#2 Staff request for an all way stop at the intersection of Airport Plaza Drive
and Maryland Street.
Matt Newell advised that he had reviewed traffic accident reports for the past three years 2Q
accidents occurred within that time frame which are potentially correctable with an all way stop
condition in place. For the three years studied, the accident rate for this intersection is 2.55
accidents per million vehicles entering the intersection. This is significantly higher than the
expected rate of 1.5 accidents per million vehicles entering the intersection.
Staff recommends that an all way stop condition be placed at the intersection of Airport Plaza
Drive and Maryland Street.
It was moved and seconded (Brown/Sober) to accept staff recommendations that an all stop be
placed at the intersection of Airport Plaza Drive and Maryland Street. There being no
opposition, the motion carried.
