Zion Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would <br /> produce a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition as <br /> presented. <br /> BACKGROLJND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the <br /> City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 10 acres, the area in question was developed with a single <br /> family dwelling that is now vacant. Annexation is requested for future commercial and residential <br /> development. The property to the north is zoned B-2 Commercial District and R-6 Multiple Dwelling <br /> District; properties to the east, west and south are located in the County. On a separate action, the <br /> property will be rezoned from R-1 Single Family Residence District to B-2 Commercial District and R-6 <br /> Multiple Dwelling District. The following information is relative to the areas in question: <br /> 1. The parcel contains a vacant single family structure. <br /> 2. City water is located adjacent to the tract at Mt. Zion Road (Rt. 121). <br /> 3. Sanitary sewer is located adjacent to the property at Mt. Zion Road(Rt. 121); <br /> however, the area is not within the boundaries of the Sanitary District. The fee <br /> for annexing to the District is$930 per acre. <br /> 4. The average fire response time is 9 minutes. Long Creek is the Fire Protection District. <br /> 5. Mt.Zion Road (Route 121)is maintained by the Illinois Deparhnent of Transportation. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: Not]rnown. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District.
