 . EXCERPTS FROM
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION
Wednesday, July 12, 2000
ITEM#1 Staff request for stop signs at the intersection of Stone and Moore Streets.
Newell stated that he had received a call from a resident in the area about the speed of traffic and
the number of accidents on this street. In reviewing the intersection accident record, there is four
times the normal rate here. Staff recommends that sto si ns be installed at the intersection
P g
facing Moore Street. He suggests the direction of the signs be facing Moore Street because Stone
is a more traveled street.
Gillen added that Cantrell Street is also a through street, so it would be consistent to make Stone
the through street.
Newell added that arkin is allowed u to the intersection and it is otherwise rett cluttered.
P g P P Y
There is a lot of cut-through traffic from Jasper and 16th Streets. He believes if another car
comes from the other direction, it is difficult to see them because of the parked cars and other
clutter. Restricting parking at the intersection may solve that problem, but probably not to the
extent that a stop sign would. He believes the street would be best served by installing stop
signs.
It was moved and seconded (Gillen / Nordholm) to accept staff recommendation to place stop
signs at the intersection of Stone and Moore Streets, facing Moare Street. There being no one
opposed, the motion carried.
