Krieger, sistant City Manager Kathy J.Miller, AICP,Planner SUBJECT: Annexation of Surrounded Area--27th Street and Brush College Road �� Final action to annex parcels of land which are surrounded by the corporate limits is scheduled , for action (Monday, September 18, 2000). The appropriate ordinance to annex these parcels was �, received and placed on file by the City Council on Monday, August 21. The property owners 'I were notified of the proposed annexation action. The following information is relative to the areas in question: ��, 1. The parcel contains two businesses and railroad property. 2. City water is located adjacent to the tracts at 27th street and Brush College Road. � 3. The area is not served by sanitary sewer. li 4. The average fire response time is 5 minutes. An additional two li fire hydrants will need to be installed closer to the properties for a better fire protection distribution system. Decatur is the Fire Protection District. 5. All streets with the exception of Brush College Road are maintained by the � City of Decatur and are asphalt or concrete construction. Brush College 'I Road is maintained by the Macon County Highway Department. I 6. Additional annual revenue of approximately$2184 would become available from real estate taxes from commercial properties. The total area of the parcels is 41.636 acres. The surrounding area is zoned M-1 Light Industrial District, M-2 Heavy Industrial District and R-1 Single Family District; when annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 Single Family Residence District. The current county zoning for all parcels is M-2. City staff will initiate the rezoning of these parcels. In keeping with city policy to annex surrounded areas and thereby create a more logical and consistent corporate boundary, staff recommends approval of the annexation as presented.
