Krieger, sistant City Manager <br /> Kathy J.Miller, AICP,Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of Surrounded Area--27th Street and Brush College Road <br /> �� <br /> Final action to annex parcels of land which are surrounded by the corporate limits is scheduled , <br /> for action (Monday, September 18, 2000). The appropriate ordinance to annex these parcels was �, <br /> received and placed on file by the City Council on Monday, August 21. The property owners 'I <br /> were notified of the proposed annexation action. <br /> The following information is relative to the areas in question: ��, <br /> 1. The parcel contains two businesses and railroad property. <br /> 2. City water is located adjacent to the tracts at 27th street and Brush College Road. � <br /> 3. The area is not served by sanitary sewer. li <br /> 4. The average fire response time is 5 minutes. An additional two li <br /> fire hydrants will need to be installed closer to the properties for a better <br /> fire protection distribution system. Decatur is the Fire Protection District. <br /> 5. All streets with the exception of Brush College Road are maintained by the � <br /> City of Decatur and are asphalt or concrete construction. Brush College 'I <br /> Road is maintained by the Macon County Highway Department. I <br /> 6. Additional annual revenue of approximately$2184 would become available <br /> from real estate taxes from commercial properties. <br /> The total area of the parcels is 41.636 acres. The surrounding area is zoned M-1 Light Industrial <br /> District, M-2 Heavy Industrial District and R-1 Single Family District; when annexed the area <br /> will come into the city as R-1 Single Family Residence District. The current county zoning for <br /> all parcels is M-2. City staff will initiate the rezoning of these parcels. <br /> In keeping with city policy to annex surrounded areas and thereby create a more logical and <br /> consistent corporate boundary, staff recommends approval of the annexation as presented. <br />
