Miller,AICP,Planner <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of Surrounded Area--1515 North Lake Shore Drive <br /> Final action to annex a parcel of land which is surrounded by the corporate limits is scheduled for <br /> action (Monday, September 18, 2000). The appropriate ordinance to annex these parcels was <br /> received and placed on file by the City Council on Monday, August 21. The property owners <br /> were notified of the proposed annexation action. <br /> The following information is relative to the areas in question: <br /> 1. The parcel contains one single family structures. <br /> 2. City water is available and located adjacent to the lot at Lake Shore <br /> Drive; service is readily available. <br /> 3. The existing residence is served by an individual septic system <br /> approved by the Public Health Department. The sanitary sewer is <br /> available. There are no current plans to connect to sewers. <br /> 4. The streets are asphalt construction and maintained by the City of <br /> Decatur up to the DAV Hall; there is adequate street lighting. <br /> 5. The average fire response time is 8 minutes. Decatur is the Fire Protection <br /> District <br /> 6. Additional annual revenue of approximately $581 would become available <br /> from the combined total real estate, motor fuel and state income taxes. <br /> The total area of the parcels is 0.32 acres. The adjacent areas are zoned R-1 and R-3 Single <br /> Family Residence District; when annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 Single Family <br /> Residence District. <br /> In keeping with city policy to annex surrounded areas and thereby create a more logical and <br /> consistent corporate boundary, staff recommends approval of the annexation as presented. <br />
