Kriege , A sistant City Manager <br /> William Turner Building Inspection S ervisorl{� <br />' SUBJECT: Adoption of 1998 International Mechanical Code and Changes in Mechanical <br /> Licensing Ordinance <br /> The attached ordinances adopt the 1998 International Mechanical Code as published by the <br /> International Code Council as the Mechanical Code for the City of Decatur(Chapter 68) and <br /> make changes to Chapter 26 which sets specifications for the licensing of Mechanical Contractors <br /> and Mechanics. <br /> The major changes in the Licensing Act are: <br /> 1. Requiring a Licensing Bond to assure proper completion of work performed <br /> by the contractor. <br /> 2. A Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Mechanic shall be licensed <br /> in his or her principal place of business. This will apply to any new Mechanic or Mechanic <br /> Contractor. <br /> These changes were proposed by the Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Commission <br /> and approved by staff. It is recommended they be adopted. <br />
