URBAN AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
No. 00-81
April 11, 2000
To: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Members
From: Steve Ga ' y Manager
A. J. Krieger, sistant City Man er
MForgey, S nior Planner,
Subject: Plan Commission case#00-26: Mclonald's petition for rezoning
The applicant seeks to rezone four lots adjoining the current McDonald's restaurant from R-5,
Two Family Residence District, to B-2, Commercial District, to allow the replacement of the
current restaurant with a new facility and improved traffic circulation. The property is illustrated
on the Future Land Use Map, a component of the Decatur Comprehensive Plan, as "Commercial."
A companion petition, #00-27, requests the vacation of a right of way on the same block.
Staff has conducted several visits to this site and concludes that the proposed changes to the site
will, if approved, greatly improve the appearance of Eldorado Street, and will serve as a model for
future redevelopment activities in this corridor.
Staff recommends approval of this petition as proposed. At its regular meeting on Apri16, 2000,
the Decatur Plan Commission voted to recommend approval of this petition by a vote of 8-0 with
one abstention.
