ECONOMIC AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
No. 00-72
March 30, 2000
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Members
FROM: Steve Garman, City Manager
A. J. Krieger, Assistant City Manager
Max Forgey, AICP, Senior Planner,
Kathy J. Miller, AICP, Planner/' ' "
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 3310 East Fitzgerald Road
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City Clerk's
Office. Containing 1.12 acres, the area in question is currently undeveloped. The reason for
requesting annexation is to obtain city water to serve the lot for future sale. The surrounding area
is zoned R-1 Single Family Residence District; annexed territory is automatically zoned R-l.
The following data have been compiled relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An esting water main is located adjacent to the subject tract
at Fitzgerald Road; service is readily available.
2. An esting sewer main is located adjacent to the subject tract at
Fitzgerald Road; however, if the applicant should seek connection
to the sanitary line, it will be necessary to annex to the Sanitary
District with a fee of$930 per acre.
3. The streets are concrete construction with sidewalks.
4. The average fire response time is 7 minutes.
5. Additional annual revenue of appromately $49 (as a vacant lot)would
become available from the combined total of real estate tes.
Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical extension of the
corporate limits. Staff recommends approval of the petition as presented.
