COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
No. 00-28
Februa 2 2000 I
' ,
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Membe
FROM: Steve Garm ity Manager
Cecil A. Coll' , Jr., Director of Community Develo m nt, Plannin and Transit
P g
Kathy 7. Mille , AICP, Planner
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 24 Sullivan Drive
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City Clerk's
Ofice. Contairung 0.62 acres, the area in question is presently developed with a single family
dwelling. The main reason for requesting annexation is to obtain city water to serve the existing
dwelling.
The following data has been compiled relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An esting water main is located adjacent to the subject tract
at Sullivan Drive; service is readily available.
2. The esting residence is served by an individual septic system
approved by the Public Health Department. Sanitary sewer is
not available.
3. The streets are asphalt construction with seal treatment and are in
deteriorating condition.
4. The average fire response time is 7.5 minutes. This response time
is too long to meet American Heart Standards (5 minutes). The fire
chief has some concerns about this response time.
5. Additional annual revenue of appromately $402 would become
available from the combined total of real estate, motor fuel, and state
income taxes.
Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical ertension of the
corporate limits. Staff recommends approval of the petition as presented.
