Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manager
SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Regulation of Parking on Narrow Streets
During Winter Conditions
At the October meeting of the Traffic and Parking Commission, the Commission approved a
request from City staff to make an addition to the City Code regulating winter parking on certain
narrow streets. City staff asked for this addition to the Code due to the fact that during periods of
snow and ice, it is very difficult to safely get the City's large dump trucks with conventional
snow plows and salt spreaders on these streets when vehicles are parked on them. The proposed
ordinance is attached.
This subject was discussed at the December 13, 1999, City Council study session meeting.
The following streets would be affected by this ordinance:
Burtschi Court
Cantrell Court
East Court Manor
East Main Street (East Avenue to U.S. Route 36)
East Prairie Street (East Avenue to U.S. Route 36)
Home Avenue (North of Main)
Shady Crest
Webster Court
West Court Manor
West Prairie Street(Haworth to West Dead End)
