COMMLJNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
No. 99-275
November 9, 1999
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Members
FROM: Steve Garman, City Manage
Cecil A. Collins, Jr., Directo ommunity Development, Planning and Transi
Kathy 7. Miller, AICP,Planner
SUBJECT: Alley Vacation South of Green Street and East of Monroe Street
A valid request has been received from property owner adjoining the subject alley to vacate the
same. Inasmuch as the alley in question serves only the adjoining property, staff is of the opinion
that said alley is no longer necessary to serve the general public and that best interests of the City
of Decatur would be served by approving the vacation request.
A perpetual easement will be retained for operation and maintenance of esting utility lines.
Further, an appraisal in the amount of $620.00 has been submitted to determine fair market value
and compensation to the City of Decatur.
Staff recommends approval of the proposed alley vacation as submitted.
