DRAGSTREM to
rezone the premises commonly known as the area lying East of
Brush College Road, Southeast of Illinois Route 48 and South of
Boyd Road from R-1 Single Family Residence District to M-1
Light Industrial District. -
Mr. Richard Vissering, Trustee of the Estate from First National Bank, was present and spoke for
the petition. Mr. Vissering stated that this property has been agricultural for years and there is
considerable development in the area to the north and to the east. There are plans for water to be
put on the east side of Brush College Road and sanitary sewer on the west and north sides of the
property.
Mr. Schiller questioned what is located to the north of this property. Mr. Vissering stated that to
the north is the ADM facility which is zoned M-2.
There were no objectors present.
Mr. Forgey presented the recommendation of staff:
The subject petition requests the rezoning of a 69.93 acre tract of land generally located west of
North Brush College Road on the east side of SBI Route 48 between Mound and Garver Church
Road from Agriculture, a Macon County zoning designation, to M-1 Light Industrial. The
purpose of the proposed rezoning is to prepare the property for industrial or commercial
development per the terms of the annexation agreement with the City of Decatur which was
approved by City Council at their meeting on September 21, 1998.
The annexation pledges to rezone this property to the M-1 classification. Staff, therefore,
recvmmends approval of the petition as presented.
Mr. Shampine questioned if the City is responsible for sewer and water to the property. Mr.
Krieger answered yes, per the annexation agreement. Other improvements will be the
responsibility of the developer.
It was moved and seconded (Schiller/Woolsey)to forward CaL No. 98-65 to City Council with
recommendation for approval. Motion carried unanimously.
