Fire Battalion Chief James Gillen advised the condominiums have been in the area about two
years. According to the study, there has only been one accident here, and that was last summer.
He is familiar with the area because he goes to the mall that way.
Bruce Moore believes it is a good idea to have the stop signs installed, because so many people
come from over the overpass and are surprised by seeing someone coming from the subdivision.
People coming from the east slow down because they know there is a danger, so there may be a
lot of potential problems which a three-way stop would eliminate. He would accept staff's
recommendation.
Donna Spangler agrees. It is dangerous when people go straight when someone behind them
expects them to turn, because many people do not use their turn signals.
It was moved and seconded (Sober / Adams) to accept the staff recommendation that an all-way
stop be installed at the intersection of Arbor and Oakland. Upon vote on the motion, there were
seven ayes and one nay(Gillen). The motion camed.
