COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 98-62
June 25, 1998
MEMO TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
CiTy Council Members
FROM: James L. Williams ., City Manager
Cecil A. Collins, ., Community Development Director
Teresa Townsend, Acting Senior Planner--
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 3511 North Taylor Avenue
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City
Clerk's Office. Containing .9946 acres, the area in question is a one lot single family dwelling.
The main reason for requesting annexation is to obtain City water to serve the existing dwellings.
The following data has been compiled relative to the proposed annexation:
' 1. An existing 12 inch watermain is located along North Taylor Avenue
adjacent to the subject lot; service is readily available.
2. There is an existing 12 inch sanitary sewer in Taylor Avenue fronting
the existing dwelling. This sewer is owned by the Sanitary District
of Decatur. Authorization would have to obtained from the District.
3. Additional annual revenue of approximately $453.88 would become
available from the combined total of real estate, motor fuel, and state
income taxes.
Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical extension of the
corporate limits; we recommend approval of the petition as presented.
