CONINIUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 98-21
March 31, 1998
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
City Counci Members
FROM: James L. Williams, , City Manager
Cecil A. Collins, Jr., ommunity Development Directo
Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planner (''
SUBJECT: Annexation of tract north of L & A Industrial Park(generally south of Mound
Road and west of Brush College Road
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject tract has been filed with the City Clerk's
Office. Containing twenty-four acres, the area in question is presently vacant farm land; it will be
used in conjunction with adjoining land to the south to accommodate industrial development.
The petition has been filed in accordance with a previously approved annexation agreement for
this tract; this is the final step necessary to annex the property to the City of Decatur. As future
development occurs in this general vicinity, staff anticipates ultimate requests to annex the balance
of property northerly to Mound Road and easterly to Brush College Road.
Staffrecognizes this request as producing a logical and desirable ertension of the corporate limits;
we recommend approval of the petition as presented.
