COMMUlvITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 97-112
October 14, 1997
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
City Council Members
FROM: James L. Williams, ., City Manager „^
Debora L. Bean, A ting Community Development Director /l
Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planner ('"",
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 1685 South Baltimore
Avenue
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City
Clerk's Office. Containing .8 acres, the area in question is presently developed with a
gasoline service station and convenience store The main reason for requesting annexation
is to obtain City sewer service for the esting facility.
The following data has been compiled relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An esting watermain is located along Fulton Avenue adjacent to the
subject tract; service is readily available.
2. An existing sanitary sewer located along Fulton Avenue is available to
serve the area in question.
3. Additional annual revenue of appromately $500.00 would become
available from real estate taxes.
Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical ertension of
the corporate limits. Existing commercial development to the immediate west is within the
corporate limits as is property to the north across Route 36 and to the south across Fulton
Avenue. The availability of sanitary sewer to the subject tract will improve the esting
commercial development.
Staff recommends approval of the petition as presented.
