Newell, Traffic Engineer��j,�/y <br /> SUBJECT: Addition of a Downtown Resident Parking Permit to Chapter 34 <br /> An item on the agenda for the City Council meeting of Monday, October 6, 1997, is a <br /> modification to Chapter 34 of the City Code to establish a residential parking permit program in <br /> downtown Decatur. This proposed addition to Chapter 34 has been approved by the Trai�ic and <br /> Parking Commission, the Downtown Decatur Council and is consistent with direction given to staff <br /> from the City Council. <br /> The basic proposal is provided as follows: <br /> 1. Vehicles with valid permits are allowed to park at any unrestricted City controlled <br /> metered or non-metered surface lot or street parking space allowing a minimum of 2 <br /> hour parking from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m., without paying the meter, Monday through <br /> Saturday and a11 day Sunday. <br /> 2. Vehicles with valid permits are allowed to park at any unrestricted, City controlled <br /> metered or non-metered parking space allowing a minimum of three hour parking <br /> anytime without paying the meter. � <br /> 3. Each vehicle will require a separate permit. <br /> 4. Each pernut will cost $30 per month. <br /> 5. Permits are only issued upon verification that the owner of each vehicle receiving a <br /> permit is a downtown resident. <br /> City staffwill be present to answer questions the City Council may have. <br /> attach: 2 <br /> cc: Beth B.
