EXCERPTS FROM TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMNIISSION MINUTES
Wednesda , March 12, 1997
Y
Request from Webster-Cantrell Ha11 to install stop signs at the intersection of 19th and Decatur
Streets.
Matthew Newell received a request from Mr. Robin Crowe stating concerns that there is an
accident problem at the intersection of Decatur and 19th Streets. He feels that stop signs are
needed at that intersection to stop traffic on Decatur Street. The traffic counts are included in the
Agenda material. There have been three accidents in the past three years here. The traffic on
19th Street is almost twice as much as that on Decatur Street, and the yield sign on 19th Street is
not working for this reason. Drivers are surprised by the oncoming traffic, and this causes
accidents. Staff has agreed to ask the Commission to place stop signs to make traffic stop facing
Decatur Street.
Mr. Crowe stated that he agrees with staffs recommendation.
It was moved and seconded (Hansen / Moore) to accept staff recommendation that the existing
yield signs currently facing 19th Street be removed and stop signs be placed facing Decatur
Street. There being no one opposed, the motion carried.
,
