CONIMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 97-40
A ril 15 1997
P ,
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
City Council Members
FROM: James L. Williams, ., City Manager
Debora L. Bean, Acting Community Development Director,
Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planner f1
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises at 2618 Finch Drive
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City
Clerk's Office. Containing one acre, the area in question is developed with a single family
dwelling. The main reason for requesting annexation is to obtain City water to serve the
existing dwelling.
The following data has been compiled relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An existing watermain is located along Finch Drive adjacent to the subject
premises; service is readily available.
2. The area is not presently served by sanitary sewers; the nearest sanitary
sewer is located appromately 2000 feet west of the subject tract at the
end of Finch Drive.
3. Additional annual revenue of approximately $300.00 would become
available from the combined total of real estate, motor fuel, and state
income taxes.
Recognizing the esting corporate boundary as noted, staff is of the opinion that the
proposed annexation would produce a logical eension of the corporate limits in this
suburban residential development. Several properties (appromately one hal of the
residential development along Finch Drive were annexed in November, 1995. Staff
anticipates that future annexation requests will ultimately be received to annex the balance
of the esting residential areas along Finch Drive and along Mound Road to the
immediate north.
In view of the data presented, staff recommends approval of the petition.
