r
CONIMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 97-3 8
Apri19, 1997
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
City Council Members
FROM James L. Williams, ., City Manager `
Debora L. Bean, Acting Community Development Director/1
 Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planner(n-""
' SUBJECT: Annexation of tract east of Route 121 appromately one quarter mile south of
Route 36 (Southeast Plaza)
A valid etition re uestin annexation of the sub'ect tract has been filed with the Cit Clerk's
P q g J Y
Office. Containing forty acres including street right-of-way for Route 121, the area in question is
primarily vacant farm land. One single family dwelling, which is presently unoccupied, is located
on the north side of the tract.
The petition has been filed in accordance with a previously approved annexation agreement for
this tract; this is the final step necessary to annex the property to the City of Decatur. Future
anticipated development includes commercial uses for the western two thirds of the tract and high
density residential for the eastern one third.
Staff recognizes this request as producing a logical and desirable eension of the corporate limits;
we recommend approval of the petition as presented.
