.
, .

Excerpts from December 11, 1996 Trafiic and Parking Commission Meet
Other Business:
1. 200 Block West Wood Street
Newell received a letter from Decatur Blue Print about parking in the 200 block of West Wood
Street. The businesses on the block are requesting that the ewsting 30-minute parking zone in
front of their buildings be upgraded to 30-minute meters. It is not easy for the meter checkers to
enforce parking on this one block every hour or half hour. The cunent problems stem from the
temporary relocation of the County Courthouse offices. There is a 30-minute parking restriction
there now, but there are no meters. He proposes tha.t meters be installed temporarily in this block.
It was moved and seconded (Nordholm/Moore)that 30-minute parking meters be installed in the
200 block of West Wood on the north side of the street to replace the existing 30-minute parking
restriction.
Hansen questioned whether neighborhood businesses are partly to blame for the problem, but
Newell stated that tickets have been issued to the business owners as well as customers.
There being no one opposed, the motion carried.
