COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 154
September 10, 1996
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and
City Council Members
FROM: William B. Sands, Acting City Manager
George C. Weaver, Community Development Director'
Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planner ("
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 1371 West Mound Road
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City Clerk's
Office. Containing 1.6 acres, the area in question is developed with a single family dwelling., The
reason for requesting annexation is to obtain City water to serve the esting dwelling.
The following data is relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An esting watermain is adjacent to the premises along West Mound Road;
service is readily available.
2. Sanitary sewer service is not available; the existing dwelling is served by an
individual septic tank system. The nearest sanitary sewer is located
appromately 1000 feet east of the subject tract.
3. West Mound Road adjacent to the area in question is presently within the
corporate limits.
4. Additional annual revenue of approximately $280.00 would become available
from the combined total of real estate, motor fuel, and state income taces.
Staff recognizes the proposed annexation as producing a logical ertension of the corporate
boundary. We note that all of the property south of Mound Road at this point is within the City
' of Decatur;we anticipate future requests to annex the balance of the residential property on the
north side. Staff recommends approval of the petition as presented.
