. • .
Ezcerpts from Minutes
Item#2 Request for stop signs at the intersection of Lowber and H'ickory Streets.
Newell received a request from the principal of Durfee School for traffic control at this
intersection. He believes the sight distance is cluttered and poor; the houses are close to the
street. There have been four accidents in the past three years, which is much higher than what is
expected at an intersection in this neighborhood. Staff has suggested the placement of stop signs
facing Lowber Street.
Ripley agees that there is a sight distance problem at this uncontrolled intersection.
Bauer suggested that sight distance and traffic looked like the problems encountered at any other !
intersection.
Newell added that it looks like any other intersection, with the exception that it has a high
accident rate which suggests that some action should be taken. '
It was moved and seconded (Ripley /Moore) to accept staff recommendation that stop signs be
placed at this intersection facing Lowber Street. There being no one opposed, the motion carried.
