Turner, Building Inspections Supervisor SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending Chapters 67, 68, 69, 70.1, Municipal Code As requested by Council, we resubmit the request for an increase in the Building Permit Fees to fund an additional position in the Community Development Department. The attached changes in the building permit fees are to be incorporated into Chapters 67, 68, 69, 70.1 of the City of Decatur Code. This is the first change in permit fees in over five (5) years. � The proposed changes will place the City s permit fees for an office building slightly less than average and slightly over average for residential construction. The increase will generate approximately $59,000 in additional income. The Building Code will also be changed to reflect a charge for repeated submissions of building plans. Often there are repeated submissions where items are not corrected, even when specifically mentioned in the letter to the design professional. The third submission for review will be assessed a$100 charge for plan review. This should reduce the number of times the same project is submitted and speed up plan approval time. ' The increased revenue will be used as discussed in the study session of May 13, 1996. Staff will be present to answer questions of Council Members. I
