COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 95-273
December 13, 1995
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Members
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr., City Manager ,- /
George C. Weaver, Director of Community Development ° ') GU

SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending Special Permit for Historic Neighborhood
Use at 560 West North Street
The petitioner is seeking to amend a special use request granted January 2, 1992 that allowed
for the location of an antique shop located at 560 West North Street. That special use request
limited the operation of the antique shop operation to the first floor of the structure. The
proposed amendment will allow for the operation of the antique shop on the second floor of the
structure.
In considering the request, staff observes that additional parking is being provided. In the opinion
of staff, with the provision of additional off-street parking, the proposed expansion of the antique
business should have no adverse effect on the neighborhood. Staff reminds petitioner that there
may be building code issues that must be addressed prior to occupancy of the second floor for
mercantile purposes. Staff recommends approval of the proposed expansion as presented.
