• - . . .
COMMU1vITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 95-263
November 29, 1995
TO: Honorable Mayor Terry M. Howley and City Council Members
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr., City Manager
George C. Weaver, Director of Community Developmentj
Robert A. McQueen, Senior Planne`n,,,s^,
SUBJECT: Ordinance Granting Special Use Permit, Day Care Center
at Church of the Living God
The subject petition requests a special use pernut to allow a day care center accommodating fifty
children at the existing church facility. The area in question is presently zoned R-5 Two-Family
Residence District with adjoining properties being zoned either R-5 Two-Family or R-3 Single
Family.
Staff is of the opinion that the proposed use would be compatible with the existing church use and
the general neighborhood. There is adequate land area available to provide the required
playground space and off street parking. Further, petitioner has been advised of the necessity to
comply with applicable building codes, and reportedly has been in contact with the Fire
Department regarding the same.
Staff recommends approval of the petition with the stipulation that the subject site be developed
in accordance with petitioner site plan.
