COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
No. 95-54
March 1, 1995
TO: Honorable Mayor Erik C. Brechnitz and
City Council Members
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr. , City Manager ^
George C. Weaver, Community Development Director(f '
bert A. McQueen, Planner
SUBJECT: Annexation of premises commonly known as 2010
Brush College Road
A valid petition requesting annexation of the subject
premises is scheduled for review and action by the City
Council on Monday, March 6, 1995. Containing six acres, the i
area in question is occupied by St. John's Lutheran i
Cemetery. The reason for requesting annexation is to enable
the premises to be eligible for City of Decatur police
protection. Recent burglary of an existing maintenance
structure on the subject premises has prompted the subject
request.
The following data is relative to the proposed annexation:
1. An existing water main is adjacent to the premises '
along Brush College Road and Faries Parkway;
' service is readily available. ,
2 . An existing sanitary sewer which could serve the
premises is located at the east end thereof.
3 . The tract in question is tax exempt. I
Staff recognizes the proposed annexation as producing a
logical extension of the corporate limits. This tract is
located with a larger area totally surrounded by the City of
Decatur. At such time that this larger area contains 60
acres or less, the City can initiate annexation of the same.
Staff recommends approval of the subject petition as
presented.
