ABSTRACT
y The goals and objectives of this proposed project are to determine if petroleum contamination at
the Expertune site exceeds Tier I Residential Cleanup Objectives. If contaminant levels are above I
Cleanup Objectives, the objective is then to detemune if petroleum contamination is a threat to
surrounding properties or sensitive receptors in the immediate area. '
This assessment shall be accomplished through a series of borings completed on-site that will
assess subsurface soils within the underground storage tank (CTST) field and product line trench.
All UST systems and appurtenances have been removed from the site. All soil borings and
samples will be completed and taken in accordance with 35 ILL Adm. Code 732.300b closure
requirements. Samples will be taken from the floor and walls of the UST pit location from areas
most likely to be impacted by petroleum release from the former UST system. The backfill in the
UST pit will be sampled as well.
If sample results are below Tier I Residential Cleanup Guidelines, a Corrective Action
Completion Report will be submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Agency)
Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Branch to request a No Further Remediation Letter
(NFR). If sample results indicate contaminant levels above cleanup objectives, Mr. Steve Taylor
will take the necessary steps to achieve a NFR letter. This would include; 1.) Removal of
existing petroleum contaminated soils from the site and provide documentation of the remedial
activities to the Agency LUST Branch or, 2.) Conduct Site Classification Investigation activities
at the site in an attempt to comply with Title XVI requirements and provide all necessary data to
the Agency LUST Branch in an effort to achieve a NFR letter for the site.
i
