- f • Page 2
It is time to have the tank inspected. Since the last inspection, tank inspection/service firms
are now doing underwater inspections while the tanks are in service using underwater divers and
cameras. This method is fully acceptable to the EPA, and the diver and equipment are
disinfected prior to entry into the tank. City staff cannot perform this inspection.
Proposals were solicited from three tank inspection firms for this work. Proposals were
received from Liquid Engineering Corporation, Extech LLC and Dixon Engineering.
City staff s review of the proposals determined Liquid Engineering to be the preferred firm
to perform the inspection. Liquid Engineering has done inspections of other water system tanks
in the area and have good references.
Funding for this project is from the Water Capital Fund.
It is the recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached Resolution
awarding the contract for the William Street Reservoir Inspection/Cleaning Project, City Project
2000-42, to Liquid Engineering Corporation in the amount of their price of $9,995.00 and that
the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest.
City staff will be available to answer questions that the City Council may have at the
meeting.
attach: 2
cc: Raymond McDannell, Water Production Maintenance Supervisor
Liquid Engineering
