Ratekin, Assistant City Engineer ��(� V <br /> SUBJECT: Hydraulic Cylinder Rehabilitation- Lake Decatur Dam <br /> City Project 2000-39 <br /> The Engineering Division has developed a project for rehabilitating the remaining four <br /> hydraulic cylinders on the Lake Decatur Dam. The Engineering Division had four of the <br /> cylinders rehabilitated during a previous project. The cylinders proposed to be rehabilitated <br /> control the position of the south bascule gate on the dam. The Lake level can be controlled using <br /> the north bascule gate and the two sluice gates while this work is being completed. <br /> During the previous work on the cylinders, it was required to conduct additional repairs on <br /> one of the cylinders. Staff would recommend that a contingency of$50,000 be allotted for this <br /> project. This contingency would provide the means to cover any costs if an unknown defect is <br /> found in any of the cylinders. <br /> The City's Engineering Division prepared the specifications for this project. The project was <br /> advertised far competitive bids and one bid was received and opened on Tuesday, September 26, <br /> 2000. The results (copy of the bid tabulation is attached) of the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 425,000.00 --- <br /> OCCI, Inc. $ 189,860.00 (55.3%) <br />
