BID OPENING: SEPTEMBER 11, 2000
DECATUR PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEM
- PURCHASE OF ONE FULL SIZE PASSENGER VAN -
On August 1 l, 2000, the Decatur Public Transit System advertised for sealed bids far furnishing
the City with one full size passenger van. A notice was placed in the Herald & Review and
notices were mailed to 39 area car and truck dealerships. Six dealerships requested and were sent
the full bid package, including vehicle specifications and bidding instructions.
Two completed bids were received by the appointed time for bid opening on September l lth.
Bids were received from Northtown Ford, Inc., and Bob Ridings, Inc. Following are the bids of
each company:
BIDDER YEAR/MAKE/MODEL BID
Northtown.Ford, Inc. 2001 Ford One Ton Club Wa on $21,085.00
Bob Ridin s, Inc. 2001 Dod e Ram Van 2500 $22,895.00
Both bids were acceptable with respect to the vehicle specifications, although both bids
contained slight variances from the stated specifications. For example the Ford van's battery
has slightly fewer amperes (CCA) than required, and the Dodge van has a smaller carrying
capacity(payload) than required. The variances offered are acceptable, and all other
requirements of the bidding process have been satisfactorily met.

, ...._
Paul McChancy
Mass Transit Administrator
September 11, 2000
