Sm' h, Water Production Manage
SUBJECT: Joint Funding Agreement with U.S. Geological Survey
for Streamflow Gauging Stations
Attached is the annual Joint Funding Agreement with the Water Resources Division, U.S.
Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior for Federal fiscal year 2000-2001.
This Agreement is for the necessary field and analytical work and operation of the streamflow
gauging stations on the Sangamon River at Monticello (upstream of Lake Decatur), and Route 48
(downstream of the Lake Decatur dam). The City's share is $9,096.00 and will be billed in
October, 2000.
Payment of the fee allows the City of Decatur to access (with a computer) the real-time data
on streamflow occurring on the Sangamon River upstream of Lake Decatur and downstream of
the Lake Decatur dam. This data is of vital importance to the City in managing the level of Lake
Decatur both during excess rainfall/flood events and during periods of low/no flow.
The City of Decatur has been a cooperator with the Water Resources Division since the early
1980's. The fee varies from year to year and has been as high as $10,800.00. The fee for 1998
was $8,807.00, the fee for 1999 and 2000 was $8,814.00.
Staff recommends approval of the Agreement and will be available to answer questions.
Attach.: 2
